这两天美国这边有两件事儿，很纠结我。一是周六美国总统“终于”宣布美国进入因H1N1的紧急状态；另一个是霹雳贝贝事件。

前一个，我上周就已经说过，“怎么办”是一个问题。因为周围就没有人重视。今天上午遇到老板。他问我过得好不好，我跟他开玩笑说，我没有H1N1。他居然说，“还没有罢了”。不过，他也正言道，没事儿，和普通流感无差别。我只好祝他好运了。

后一个呢？霹雳贝贝（Baby Einstein）呀！能算是“召回”吗？我理解为只是允许某某时间段里（2004年6月5日到2009年9月4日之间）的买家在限定的时间里（现在到明年2010年3月4日）退货罢了（The Baby Einstein recall allows parents to receive a refund for items purchased between June 5, 2004 and September 4, 2009. The Baby Einstein recall offer ends on March 4, 2010. ）。为什么要召回？因为有研究表明，发表在“极牛的”小儿期刊，研究发现如果小孩在8~16个月的时候就每天与“霹雳贝贝”为伴的话，每看1小时就会少认识6~8个词儿。（Led by Frederick Zimmerman and Dr. Dimitri Christakis, both at the University of Washington, the research team found that with every hour per day spent watching baby DVDs and videos, infants learned six to eight fewer new vocabulary words than babies who never watched the videos. "The more videos they watched, the fewer words they knew," says Christakis.
